Amalgam fillings frequently raise questions in modern dentistry. Though it has no negative effect on the patients, its application decreased thanks to the appearance of new, modern materials. It has prominent properties in many regards, it can be a well functional filling in the tooth for decades. Generally there are two reasons why it is necessary to replace. On one hand, when the doctor notices any secondary caries in the tooth next to the filling, on the other hand the increased aesthetic needs of the patients. With the appearance of new materials we have many options to replace an amalgam filling with a more suitable one. In the case above, I replaced two amalgam fillings in two different ways: one is a composite filling, the other is an aesthetic onlay.
