Orthodontics
An average orthodontic treatment lasts about 1-2 years, during which regular monthly visits are required. The type of treatment varies from person to person, depending on the positioning of the teeth and jawbones, the desired result, and age. Once the jawbones have finished developing, i.e., in adult orthodontics, it is often necessary to remove one or more teeth to achieve the desired aesthetic result.
Nowadays, not only the metal braces, which many people consider less aesthetic, are available, but we also apply porcelain braces to meet higher aesthetic demands. These braces are very similar in color to the teeth, making them barely noticeable when worn. The braces are attached to the teeth using a bonding method, similar to how composite fillings are placed. First, the tooth surface is prepared, and then the brackets are bonded. The bonding strength is just enough to allow the teeth to move, but also ensures that the braces can be removed at the end of treatment without damaging the teeth.
At the end of treatment, it is common to recommend the use of a retainer for our patients. This prevents the teeth from shifting and helps maintain the achieved result. There are several types of retainers, which can be either fixed or removable. In orthodontic treatments, the planning stage is especially important. Based on the patient’s wishes, we create a long-term treatment plan with precise calculations, as we design the final result during the planning phase, which we will achieve through monthly adjustments.
