Endodontics is a highly specialized field within conservative dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of dental pulp and its supporting structures. Our skilled dentists utilize endodontic treatments to rescue damaged teeth and alleviate pain. Once the infected area is treated, the original form and appearance of the tooth can be restored with a filling or crown.
At our clinic, we strongly believe that nothing beats having your natural teeth. Therefore, our primary objective is to salvage your teeth whenever it is practical and reasonable. Beneath the tough exterior of your teeth, which comprises the enamel and dentin, lies the soft tissue known as the pulp. This tissue houses the nerves and blood supply for the tooth. A deep cavity is usually the primary cause of tooth infections. During a root canal procedure, we drill through the hard tissues to access the pulp, with the goal of eliminating the infection and pulp. After the treatment, we fill the channels with a unique filling to seal them off.
To ensure that your crown remains intact and prevent unwanted breakage, it is highly recommended to close the coronal part of the tooth with a crown or onlay. Yet, this alone does not guarantee a successful outcome for endodontic treatment. Remember, it is just one of the many options available to save a damaged tooth.
Over the years, there have been several advancements in dental devices and tools designed to improve and modernize endodontic treatments.
One of the most important development is the dental endo motor. This rotary motor makes faster and more precise treatments and decreases the possibility of root infection. Also, the materials of the needle we use for the treatment has been changed. With the appearance of NiTi needles, the incidence rate of needle breakage has been dramatically decreased. In addition, the NiTi needles’ flexibility makes it possible to treat as bent channels as visible in this picture. Another instrument that makes our life easier and used in our daily routine is called the apex locator. This machine shows us where to find the end of the channel without infecting or damaging the tissues around it. CbCTThe recording also became an essential technology in dentistry. It is an easy way to get a 3D recording from the tooth and allows us a greater understanding of the questionable tooth. And the CBCT scan uses a lower dose of radiation than a regular CT scan.
